Winter 2017

Partnering with Denison University to Modernize Curtis Dining Hall

We are excited to continue our long relationship with Denison University, joining them as they improve their student experience with a renovation of Curtis Dining Hall. With a focus on energy conservation, local and sustainable foods and a modern design that encourages community and prioritizes individual dietary restrictions and preferences, this project keeps Denison’s character at the forefront.

Curtis Dining Hall is one of two dining facilities on the campus of Denison University and is currently undergoing extensive renovation, which is being split into two Phases. Much of Phase I was scheduled during the 2016 summer break and included the total abatement and demolition of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems throughout the facility. Phase I also saw the addition of a new main entrance and stair tower, as well as the renovation of Student Services and the Provost dining facility.

Phase II is scheduled to begin during the summer break of 2017 and consists of a new, state of the art kitchen, designed to allow for much greater flexibility and individualization of meals. This project will particularly enable the University to prepare individual meals for those students with special dietary needs, while simultaneously improving the food services for the general population on campus. We will also completely rework the design of the faculty and student dining and community areas. The University is eagerly anticipating the transformation of the facility and is looking forward to seeing the staff and students enjoy the newly renovated spaces for the Fall semester of 2017.
