We are excited to announce that The Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center earned LEED® Silver Status from The U.S. Green Building Council.  The Natatorium includes many green construction systems – for instance, the building has a geothermal HVAC system. The 90 wells each 240 feet deep provide liquid at a nearly constant temperature for heating and cooling, saving the University operating costs to condition the space over the life of the building.

Construction commenced in July 2009 on the center and was completed as anticipated in October 2010. The center is a nearly 25,000 square foot natatorium that houses a ten lane NCAA Competition 25 yard x 25 meter indoor pool with one and three meter diving boards, varsity locker rooms, public locker rooms, offices and other ancillary spaces.

Congratulations to Ohio Wesleyan on the addition of their first certified “Green” building!
